MasterClass lead by

Mariusz Forecki (PL)

Kaunas, September 6-8, 2013

KAUNAS PHOTO invites to a three-day meeting with Mariusz Forecki, who will share his experience about how to be aside from the “central event” and still make a photographic statement about the situation.

Participants of this workshop will have an opportunity to spend three days working under guidance of one of the best photojournalists in Poland, improving their skills and strategies of documentary photography.

The leader of the MasterClass will help understand how to touch the base of the story, without being at the epicentre of it.  The participants of the workshop will choose a theme and develop it and adapt the most suitable form for the visual story.

The Polish photographer equally perfectly mastering the classical reportage, the slow documentary image will share his experience on how to make emphasis on  “unimportant” things that in photography acquire documentary value and become imprints or signs of time.  Mariusz Forecki will share his expertise of a leader of a photographic agency, paying a great deal of attention to discussing individual images and the process of editing of the stories the participants, in order that the stories can radiate the most visual effect.

I picture Poland since the mid-1980s. The events and situations that I captured are personal. They do not feature the great political figures nor spectacular events. Looking from a more global perspective these events even look insignificant. But looking from the perspective of the heroes of these photographs, the images reflect their lives. The gatherings of people show the transitions, which we witness on the daily basis. Or maybe it is just me…
